Hugh Hanley's "Circle of Songs" |

Young children and their families are invited to a Sing-Along Concert with Hugh Hanley at the Regent In 1984, with an early childhood education degree in hand and numerous gigs in the coffeehouse circuit under his belt, Hanley decided to combine his two interests and applied for and received a grant from the Cambridge Arts Council to present educational music programs at Cambridge childcare centers and nursery schools. Furnished with a repertoire of music activities that he had learned as a preschool teacher, he soon found his services in demand, and set out on a career of singing with children and teachers in early education programs—work that has since taken him throughout the Boston area and New England and across the country to visit schools, libraries, and concert venues where young children and their teachers and families join in his interactive music presentations. The Regent concert will celebrate a quarter century of entertaining and educating preschool children with his “Circle of Songs"--Hugh's lively, participatory presentation that features guitar, banjo, and a repertoire of "hands-on/voices-on" songs, fingerplays, and music activities that everyone can do! Kim Foley MacKinnon, author of Boston Baby: A Field Guide for Urban Parents will be joining the Regent Theatre’s 25th Anniversary Celebration of singer and songwriter Hugh Hanley’s career. Kim is a freelance journalist, travel writer, and the editor of DailyCandy Kids Boston, who has covered the Boston family scene for over a decade. Kim will be available before and after the Regent’s Family Fun show to sign books and talk with local parents about what makes Boston such a family-friendly city. Plus, The Book Rack will be retailing Boston Baby, so you can pick up a few extra copies for any upcoming baby showers.
